Render cleaning for Poole Travelodge
Appearances matter, especially for businesses in the hospitality sector, and it’s important for hotels to make sure their premises are kept looking clean and well-maintained both inside and out.
When the sun finally came out this year, the managers of the Travelodge in Poole suddenly realised just how grubby the rendered facade of their establishment was looking. So, they contacted OneFifty to see whether we would be able to help.
Biofilms and carbon staining
The Poole Travelodge is a modern, five story building. It has a white rendered façade and with a number of feature panels, most in a burnt orange brickwork.
Unfortunately, in our damp UK climate, it doesn’t take long for black algae to take a hold and flourish on rendered surfaces. That is exactly what had happened here, with the black algae creating unsightly staining, especially on surfaces that are in the shade quite a lot of the time. In fact, the algae was even spreading onto and discolouring the branded Travelodge sign itself.
In addition, because the building is located on a busy road, the staining was compounded by carbon and dirt created by passing traffic. All-in-all, the building exterior was in need a thoroughly good clean.
Right tools for the job
Our team has both the know-how, and the cleaning systems required, to carry out the exterior cleaning of the Poole Travelodge efficiently and effectively. We also have our own in-house high-level access equipment which helps keep costs down.
Pressurised steam works really well for removing algae as the steam kills the spores which helps prevent regrowth. We also apply a biocide wash after cleaning to further deter future growth and keep the building looking good for longer.
The render clean had a positively transformative effect on the building, leaving the Travelodge exterior looking clean and shining in early summer sunshine. The building managers were delighted with the outcome.
