Render cleaning - Oasis Multi-Academy Trust
We first worked with Oasis Community Learning in 2017 when we cleaned the facades of two of their schools. They were really pleased with the work we did and we were delighted to be invited back to clean the rendered façade of their Southampton academy in the Spring of 2023.
One of the largest in England, the Oasis Multi-Academy Trust has 52 academies spread across five separate regions. The Trust aims to offer exceptional education and raise the bar for students, and their schools achieve enviable OFSTED ratings. Maintaining their academy buildings to ensure they offer the best possible learning environment for students is key to the trust delivering on its promise.
Meeting required time frames on a short deadline
As is often the case with school projects the work needed to be completed within a specific time slot over the Easter break, before the start of the Summer Term. Having highly efficient project planning and management processes in place helped ensure that we were able to meet the schools required timeframe and complete the façade cleaning to a high standard.
A tried and tested cleaning process for rendered facades
The rendered surface of the school’s facade, which looks great when clean, had become discoloured as a result of environmental and organic pollutants. You need to be careful when cleaning render as excessive pressure could break the integrity of the surface while using too much water could permeate the render and potentially cause damage.
OneFifty’s experienced operators follow a tried and rested three-step cleaning process that achieves great results without compromising the rendered surface.
- First we clean the surface using pressurised steam at 150°C at a low 40 Bar pressure which delivers a gentle but impressive clean, and ensures that all surface dirt and algae deposits are effectively removed.
- Next we treat the surface with a special biocide render wash to kill algae and moss, and help inhibit regrowth.
- A final pass with pressurised steam ensures that we leave the façades looking brilliantly clean.
Our process has been officially approved by leading manufacturer Sto Render, but also works equally well across all types of render. Our client was delighted by the fast turn-around of this project and the excellent results that we achieved.
